Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!
The key to his past…
…lies with the enemy sharing his bed!
Part of The Lochmore Legacy: a Scottish castle through the ages! Rory Lochmore had expected to wage battle, to claim land and finally secure his standing within his clan… Instead he won a wife. A McCrieff wife. Their convenient marriage could unite the two long-feuding clans forever. But can a political alliance give way to a passion strong enough to stand the secrets of the past?
This is a highly entertaining historical romance with great characters, intrigue and a mystery to be solved – I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and loved the twist at the end with the epilogue! However, you need to read it for yourself to discover just what happens then.
Rory Lochmore has been brought up to be wary of the McCrieff clan, the two clans have often fought and their disputes are now part of both clan’s histories. When the King granted some of the riverside lands which previously belonged to the McCrieffs to the Lochmore clan, missives sent regarding this appear to be ignored so Rory, heir to the Lochmore chieftain, sets out with a band of his clansmen to enforce the edict. He assumed they’d be going to battle it out but instead he is invited into their castle to dine! He agrees to marry Ailsa McCrieff, the daughter of the warrior who will be their next chieftain and is acting as such because the current one is dying. This marriage of convenience has this unlikely couple having to work together as poison, history, danger and mystery all add intrigue to this enthralling story.
I haven’t read the previous three books in this series but I don’t believe that detracted from my enjoyment of this story. There are plenty of twists and turns, discoveries and revelations that make this a fascinating story and, as I wrote earlier, I really liked the epilogue! I highly recommend you read it if you enjoy historical romances with a marriage of convenience becoming a love match and a long standing mystery to be resolved.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and finding it a fascinating story.
