Title: The Trouble With Christmas
Series: Credence, Colorado
Author: Amy Andrews
Published: Entangled, Amara
Published: September 24th, 2019
This is a brilliant, fun, festive romance that is bound to bring a smile to your face whatever the season. It is the second book in the series but is written as a standalone.
Suzanne St Michelle is fed up with the coathanger tree Christmas celebrations her parents have every year and has travelled from New York to Credence, Colorado to celebrate her first over the top Christmas with her best friend. She’s also hoping that escaping her judgemental, renowned artist mother will give her the chance to discover her own muse again.
She certainly hadn’t anticipated her landlord being dour veteran now rancher Joshua Grady, who is definitely not into celebrating Christmas. She develops a really bad case of verbal diarrhoea and seems unable to control just what she says every time they meet. He, however, is considerably more restrained and reticent. When her parents want Suzanne to return home for Christmas she pretends that she can’t leave her boyfriend who has gone all out to help create a glittery, twinkly, over the top Christmas for her. Never did she anticipate her parents coming to join them. Now she needs to convince Joshua to be her fake boyfriend, agree to have his home over the top decorated and for her to move in with him! As attraction between them grows, will they be able to resist temptation? Will Suzanne find her muse? Can Joshua open his heart to love?
This is a lovely festive read with plenty of angst and artistry. It is a story of working together for love and not just for Joshua and Suzanne. The community has some great characters in it and is brought to life in this story. I really look forward to reading more about it in future and catching up on what has happened to the characters in this book.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
All Suzanne St. Michelle wants is an over-the-top, eggnog-induced holiday with her best friend in Credence, Colorado. But when her hoity-toity parents insist she come home for Christmas in New York, she blurts out that her sexy landlord is actually her boyfriend and she can’t leave him—Joshy loves Christmas. The more twinkle lights the better.
Rancher Joshua Grady does not love Christmas. Or company, or chatty women. Unfortunately for him, the chattiest woman ever has rented the cottage on his ranch, invited her rich, art-scene parents, and now insists he play “fake rancher boyfriend” in a production of the Hokiest Christmas Ever. And somehow…she gets him to agree.
Apparently, he’ll do anything to get his quiet life back. At least there’s mistletoe every two feet—and kissing Suzy is surprisingly easy. But in the midst of acres of tinsel, far too many tacky Christmas sweaters, and a tree that can be seen from space, he’s starting to want what he lost when he was a kid—a family. Too bad it’s with a woman heading back to New York before the ball drops…
