Wrapped Up for Christmas
It’s the most wonderful time of the year… but not for Angie Martinelli…
Having lost her boyfriend, job, and apartment all in the space of a week, Angie has no choice but to leave California and return to her family in New England.
Determined not to let life weigh her down, Angie finds work at the local mall where she worked as a teenager. After an embarrassing run-in with a handsome stranger, Nick, she’s convinced her luck is about to change.
But Nick has secrets of his own… and as the first flakes of snow begin to fall, Angie can’t help but wonder if she’ll ever find love.
This is a lovely story of returning home to find love after heartbreak. Angie Martinelli discovered that her boyfriend was engaged to someone else after she’d been going out with him for a year. Unfortunately he’s also her boss. She had no choice but to leave her event planning job to return home. Here she discovers things have changed at home, with her grandparents now using her room. She feels she doesn’t fit anywhere at the moment. However, she is pleased to catch up with her best friend who is instrumental in helping her find a job at the local mall, a job she last did as a teenager! There she meets Nick, a rather embarrassing first encounter is followed up by others and Angie starts to think maybe life isn’t so bad . . . . but Nick has been keeping secrets. Not only that, but Nick’s Dad has other plans for him. Will these drive this couple apart or will they give love a chance?
This story has some great characters in it, including the delightful Charlie. David sounds such a talented and determined man and his wife and children are lovely, too. Hazel also deserves a mention for being inspirational. There are times when I definitely wanted someone to speak their mind to Nick’s Dad, who is tearing his family apart. It is a moving story of love, betrayal, uncertainty and, eventually, learning to trust and love again. The journey from despondency to love is fraught with obstacles along the way – especially Nick’s Dad!
This is a charming Christmas romance, with plenty of gift wrapping for a great cause included. I have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who enjoys contemporary romance with interfering families! I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
