Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!
Ruth “Ruthless” Harper is on the verge of becoming managing partner at her all-male consulting firm and she won’t let anything stand in her way. That includes men, relationships, and that dreaded F word, FEELINGS—distractions she eliminated long ago.
After the worst day ever (a near-death experience and a public wedgie, for starters), Ruth realizes she doesn’t want to live and die alone. She puts together a business plan to find the perfect man and dives head first into the murky online dating pool. All she wants is a high-powered executive who understands how important her career is. If only it were that easy.
Problem is most men are intimidated by Ruth’s confidence and shocked by her bluntness. The exception being her landscape designer, Nick, whose cool demeanor and unsolicited dating advice are driving her nuts. He’s the antithesis of the business-oriented man Ruth envisions for herself, so why do all signs keep pointing back to him?
This is a story of changing your dreams and rethinking your plans after dramatic, life threatening events. The two initially met during a spinning class where trying to sort out her wedgie resulted in her crash landing which was a portent of things to come as she on a flight where the undercarriage didn’t deploy, necessitating a belly landing. For Nick this was to do with his health. They hadn’t realised she’d given him the task of landscaping her garden and that’s when the fun all starts…. This is a moving story of re-evaluating your life and reconsidering your options…. Searching widely for love and finding it in your own back yard….. Finding your assumptions of others aren’t always the true picture . . .. and finding love.
There are plenty of laughs, great characters and more in this highly entertaining read. The changes in goals and attitude as Ruth considers her life choices and reactions to others during the story are so moving! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone looking for a fun contemporary romance with
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and finding it a fun, page-turner that I didn’t want to put down.
