Rags to Riches Wife by Catherine Tinley #Review #Historical #Giveaway

Lady’s maid…To wedded Lady?

Lady’s maid Jane Bailey’s life is turned upside down by the arrival of wealthy gentleman Robert Kendal. He’s come to take Jane to visit her long-lost, aristocratic grandfather. Travelling together, they succumb to a mutual attraction. Yet Jane knows a maid should not hope to love a gentleman, even if she’s suddenly wearing silk dresses and dining with the Family. Society decrees they cannot marry, but how long can Jane deny her heart?

My Review:

What a lovely historical romance this proved to be. Jane Bailey’s life has had some significant, life changing events in it. The first was when her beloved father died and she and her Mum had to leave their cottage home, eventually making a new life for themselves as servants. After other events, they are happy in their new roles when a stranger, Robert Kendal, visits their mistress seeking Jane on behalf of her aristocratic grandfather who she had never met. After a five day journey together, Jane is shocked at her reception in her family home. She feels unsettled by the changing roles from lady’s maid to member of a wealthy family. Added to that is her attraction to Robert Kendal . . . . totally unsuitable for a servant! What will her grandfather be like? How will other members of his household react? Is there any chance for romance between her and Robert? You’ll have to read it to discover what happens for yourself!

The acceptable roles and behaviours in this era are explored in this poignant story. The characters are well developed and the plot has plenty of twists to keep you turning the pages. It is a delightful read that I thoroughly enjoyed escaping into and I definitely look forward to reading more by this author in future.

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
