Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!
Set in the rolling countryside of Devon, ‘In Too Deep’ is the emotional story of a woman’s determination to win the trust of the man she’s adored since they were thrown together as children, by forcing him to confront the darkness of his long-lost past.
One little lie. A guilty secret. And the man she mustn’t love…
It’s been six years since Isy Forrester left home. In that time, she’s strived to forge a new life for herself in London, away from Jack Mancini, her father’s adopted son, and his devastating betrayal of everything she thought they had.
Only now her father’s in hospital, and the house that’s been in her family for generations is at risk. Forced to return to Devon, she finds Jack as infuriating and stubborn as ever, and just as irresistible. Soon she realises the bright lights of London can’t hold a candle to him.
But Jack has a past, one which he refuses to share with her. And until he can trust her with these deepest secrets, how can she risk her heart? How can she even begin to help him, when he won’t tell her what happened all those years ago – before her father brought him home to Hambledon Hall?
This is an intriguing second chance romance where the main characters have been brought up together but their feelings are definitely not those of siblings. However, his past intrigues her – why did he come to live with them? What happened to his parents? Just why is he so reticent to act on their love for each other?
Isy Forrester left home six years ago after a dramatic confrontation with Jack Mancini, her father’s adopted son. She’d thought they loved each other but felt he rejected both her and their love but doesn’t know why. An ultimatum she made means she hasn’t been home but now her father is ill in hospital, her family home is at risk and she needs to face her past and decide on her future. This is a story of a stubborn, intransigent young lady, determined to find out everything for herself, despite everyone else telling her to leave well alone. Should she trust Jack? What about her boyfriend, Tom?
Jack Mancini doesn’t feel worthy of Isy’s love because of events in his childhood. He’s determined to let her fly, even though he’d much rather keep her by his side and definitely away from Tom. As the attraction between Isy and Jack grows she starts investigating his past… Will the secrets she uncovers enable them to move on to a future together or drive them apart forever?
This is an heartwarming romance with suspense and mystery interwoven into the story. It is an engaging read that I thoroughly enjoyed and have no hesitation in highly recommending.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and finding it an enthralling read.
