Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!
Almost four years have passed since Melv followed Eve back to England refusing to throw away their long awaited chance of lasting love and happiness. Much has happened in that time. No longer a tour manager for Travel Together, Eve is enjoying unexpected success in her new career. Has she forgiven him for hurting her so deeply? Was her love for him simply enough? And what about her own dark secret?
Provoking smiles and tears this glimpse into Eve’s future brings the Singles’ Series to its final conclusion
This is the concluding book in the Singles’ Series by Elaine Spires and covers a variety of timelines, sharing events involving Eve since the previous book in the series finished. Now almost 60 years old, Eve and her teenage love have been together and torn apart by events and other people for much of that time. Eve has resigned from her role as a tour manager and is now a successful author. There are some great, insightful revelations concerning how she promoted her first book, including references to real people, some of whom I’ve met and others who I’m in contact with. It seemed strange to have them included in the story but appropriate considering their roles.
This is a roller coaster read with plenty of highs and lows as well as unexpected turns to keep you guessing. The children are stars and delightful if sometimes too noisy! I found some of the changes in timeline unsettling and had to check back to see when it was all occurring a few times but it didn’t detract significantly from the story. The settings range from England to Antigua and Florida. It is a story of life with all its surprises along the way and has a lovely ending.
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
