My Review

What a fabulous read this proved to be – another fantastic romcom from this highly talented author, a story I have absolutely no hesitation in highly recommending to anyone looking for a lighthearted, fun romance to escape into.

Lola James had left her island home and was working as a matchmaker for the rich and famous in London. She thinks she has it all – a dream job, great friends and hot boyfriend. However, after falling and breaking her leg she discovers just how tenuous those things are. Her boss doesn’t want her in work whilst she’s using a wheelchair and her so called friends and boyfriend aren’t prepared to do anything to help her. Fortunately her parents come to her rescue and she returns home to recuperate in the family lighthouse B&B.

Returning home brings back memories, helps her to reconnect with her old friends and, after she finishes with her cheating ex-boyfriend, even potential new romance for her. Her Mum sets her up trying to help local folk find their match, helping allay any boredom and introducing her to some fantastic new friends. It is a story of looking behind the facade, discovering just who your true friends are, helping others and finding love when you least expect it. This is a great read that I loved and I hope we get to go back to Hope Island again in the future to discover what has happened in the lives of the characters from this book and meet some new ones, too. It is a great mix of laughs and romance with a couple of added dashes of mystery to keep you turning the pages!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and thoroughly enjoying doing so.

Synopsis:

Welcome to beautiful Hope Island, where the sun is shining, the locals are welcoming, and Lola is about to find a second chance at love…

Thirty-one-year-old matchmaker Lola James had it all – until she broke her leg at a wedding and discovered that her so-called ‘best friend’ was suddenly too busy to call, her flat had far too many steps, and her boyfriend replaced her quicker than you can say ‘crutches’.

And so she’s back at her parents’ B&B, sleeping in the living room (she can’t get upstairs) and having her hair washed by her mum (she can’t get in the shower).

Freshly single and with a lot of time on her hands, Lola is only too pleased to run into gorgeous Dr Will, an old friend who has definitely improved with age… And then there’s Dean, a divorcé who’s convinced he’s better off alone – no matter how lonely he is.

Can Will help mend Lola’s broken heart as well as her leg? Can she help Dean find love? As a wise man once said, sometimes the one for you is right under your nose, all along…

An uplifting, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, perfect for fans of Sophie Kinsella, Holly Martin and Jo Watson.
