My Review:

Having just finished reading this I’m now eagerly anticipating reading the whole series. The story is such a great, easy read, a book to relax and escape into the glorious Suffolk countryside, meeting key folk from the community and sharing the experiences of Callie Logan. Callie is the author of a highly successful series of children’s books but following the breakdown of her marriage she’s decided to move from London to rural Suffolk, hoping to have more inspiration for her writing and certainly not looking for romance. She’s bought the delightful sounding Oak Cottage and is making her home there….. As she explores her new home and the local communities she discovers the Nightingale bookshops and meets Sam, the person who runs the second hand bookshop. She also has surprising gifts left on her doorstep by Leo . . . .

This is a lovely story to relax and read, one to take away the cares of whatever is happening in your life at the moment and was a brilliant distraction from lockdown for me. I enjoyed the writing style and loved meeting the characters. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story and hope the other books in the series will let me learn more about the rest of the Nightingale clan – they’re all brilliant characters and there’s an added mystery about one of them. Sorry, not going to say more as I don’t want to give any spoilers away. Enough to say this is a delightful contemporary romance in a beautiful part of the England that is brought to life in the story and I can’t wait to read more in the series!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and now I really need to read the next in series!

Synopsis:

Author Callie Logan never expected to swap her life in London for one in rural Suffolk but, after the breakdown of her marriage, she decides that a fresh start is just what she needs. Finding Owl Cottage in the tiny village of Newton St Clare, Callie determines to give up on love and throw herself into her work. But fate seems to have other ideas and she soon has two very different men vying for her attention.

First there’s Leo who likes to live on the wild side which usually means taking his dates foraging in the local woods for their supper. Then there’s Sam Nightingale, owner of Nightingale’s bookshop. Sam, recovering from a divorce, has also vowed to embrace the single life. That is, until he meets Callie.

But is Callie willing to risk her heart again and, if she is, will she make the right choice?
