From the moment she met him, Ella Peterson had questions. As always, though, she’s too shy to ask.
Older and sexy as hell, mysterious Adam Brook soon sweeps sheltered Ella off her feet; but is he as perfect as he appears to be, or is there more to him than he’s telling her?
Ella’s world has already turned upside down after moving from England to rural Kansas. She and her sisters were hoping for a more secure future, but instead find that life can be tough when jobs are scarce and the stakes often higher than anticipated.
When events spiral out of Ella’s control, she learns the person she needs to rely on most is herself and her instincts on who to trust in the future.
It’s just that her instincts are screaming at her to trust Adam; it’s what he tells her that makes that a problem.
My Review:
This is the first book in a new series and has an eggcellent start! Sorry, just couldn’t resist – you’ll know why if you read the book!
Ella Peterson’s Mum died when she was a child, then her Dad and Uncle were both killed in a boating incident. Ella moves from England with her sisters and a friend to take over their Uncle’s home and small holding in Kansas but they never anticipated life being so tough for them. Each sister is trying to get a job to help them survive but they’re out of luck so decide to start selling produce at local markets. That’s where Ella first meets Adam and Dan. She’s attracted to Adam but is naive and uncertain about just who, besides herself and her sisters, she can trust. Is she right to be wary or should she follow her heart?
The whole story is centres around first experiences – but involves some dark issues that place Ella in increasing danger as her relationship with Adam intensifies. There are secrets, mystery, revelations and surprises in this dark romance. It is a page turner that has you wanting to issue warnings and give hugs but leaves you wanting to know what will happen in the next book in this series – Believe In Me – and there’s even a sneaky peek to tempt you to investigate further!
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
