My Review:
This is a lovely, gentle, contemporary romance – brilliant for helping you relax and to escape into.
Alice Bloom takes great care to keep herself safe, she isn’t reckless or adventurous but is kind and caring. Mind you, working with families who have lost a loved one, sorting out the coffin, services, etc isn’t exactly the kind of job to encourage daring, is it? She’s brilliant at the job of Funeral Home Director and doesn’t think she’s the kind of woman to appeal to a daring bull rider. However, though their lives have been so different, Jake Elliott is an injured bull rider, a man who thrives on risk taking and his latest risk is her! Their mutual attraction is something they both try to ignore but sometimes fate has other plans – and the two are betting on the outcome! Will she be going skinny dipping or will he be watching opera? You’ll have to read it for yourself to discover the outcome!
If you’re looking for a heartwarming romance with great characters and a totally realistic plot, look no further – this has it all. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and it definitely put a smile on my face!
I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after choosing to read it and thoroughly enjoying doing so.
Synopsis:
Balls-to-the-wall bull rider Jake Elliott, and straight-laced funeral home director Alice Bloom have absolutely nothing in common. Or so they think. But when a chance encounter brings them together one hopping Saturday night, Jake can tell he’s finally met his match. Lovely Alice isn’t shy about looking him in the eyes and telling him he’s too wild, too reckless for her blood.
Alice has good reason to be wary — dealing with dead people every day has taught her to look both ways before crossing the street, and to definitely resist the slippery charms of any local rodeo stars. The only problem is, she hasn’t met anyone like Jake before. He’s cocky, infuriating, and inconveniently gorgeous.
It doesn’t take long to see that in this case, opposites won’t just attract, they’ll ignite. When Jake proposes a sexy bet, Alice can’t resist. He’s dying to show her how to let loose and have a little fun. And she’s determined to keep her feet planted firmly on the ground. And her heart in check.
Whoever brings the other around first, wins. The only problem is, they weren’t planning on falling head over heels along the way.
