My Review:

Just got to love these visits to Last Stand, Texas! This time it is the first book in a new series involving the three Corbyn sisters and this book focusses on the one who is nicknamed the Brains of the trio, Emma. She the nerd of the family, preferring to escape into books whenever she can which is something quite easy for her to do as her job is the town’s librarian. When Red Aldean started paying her attention at Christmas time she hoped he’d get the courage to ask her out but it takes months for him to do so.

Red Aldean never did like book learning – mainly because he is dyslexic and struggled with his reading throughout school. He’s a more outdoor, practical sort of man who doesn’t feel worthy of Emma, though she even helped him in school. Now he’s using his skill and knowledge of fishing to try to reel her in – finding the right bait to tempt her and giving enough slack on the line to get her to trust him and his intentions . . . . but will he net her in the end or will the big secret he’s keeping drive them apart despite their mutual attraction?

This is a lovely story to escape into with great characters and a fantastic community. The families, friendships and interactions are brought to life as it the dilemmas faced by both main characters. It is a heartwarming contemporary romance and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Thank you to Tule Publishing for the copy of this book which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

He’s only got one shot at hooking her heart

Red Aldean has his sights set on his longtime friend, Emma, who seems more interested in her regency romances than dating. A renowned river, adventure and fishing guide, Red is no stranger to a challenge. With his heart on the line, he turns to his trusty Texas guide to fishing—all he needs is patience, a plan and the perfect bait.

Last Stand librarian Emma Corbyn prefers to find her romance in books. It’s much safer. While she’s not set on perfection, she needs honesty. When larger-than-life Red Aldean starts wooing her, Emma can’t help but let her guard down. And even this bookworm can’t ignore the sizzle that ignites when he’s near.

Emma feels like she can trust Red with her heart, until she learns he’s keeping secrets. Does Red need a better lure to reel in the prize of his life?
