Title: A Sheriff’s Star

Series: Home to Oak Hollow #1

Author: Makenna Lee

Pages: 288

Rating: 4.5/5*

My Review:

A single Mum doing her very best for her child finds true love when she least expects it . . . .

Tess Harper is moving to Oak Hollow to work for a couple of months helping to set up the community’s Museum, then she’ll be moving to Huston whilst her four year old daughter, Hannah, has open heart surgery. She has learnt to stand on her own, to rely on no-one else and strives to protect her beloved daughter. However, Hannah is a real sweetheart and soon wins the hearts of those she meets – including their new landlord and neighbour, police chief Anson Curry and his grandmother, Nan. The attraction between Anson and Tess is there from the start but she’s so wary after how her ex-husband treated her and what happened to both her father and brother whilst he’s trying not to get involved with someone he knows is leaving . . . but maybe fate and love have different plans for them all!

This is a moving story to put a smile on your face. Hannah is such a brilliant young lady, and she’s emotively brought to life in the pages of this book. Nan is young at heart and is a blatant matchmaker for Anson and Tess, happily giving advice and often giving readers a laugh as the story progresses. I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming read and am looking forward to reading more in this series and other books by this talented author in future. She deals with some delicate issues with sensitivity and feeling, making this a truly heartwarming read that I have no hesitation in highly recommending.

Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

It was only supposed to be a temporary home…

He interrupts her plans…

When police chief Anson Curry returns a lost little girl to her frantic mother, his only goal is to ease the single mom’s anxiety. But it doesn’t take long for Tess Harper’s amazing child to have Anson wrapped around her little finger—and for Tess to have him thinking about a possible relationship. As for Tess, she’s tempted—even though she had planned to be in Oak Hollow, Texas, only temporarily. But after losing her father and brother in the line of duty, Tess thinks Anson’s job poses too much of a risk to her heart. And Anson has no plans to get involved with someone who’s planning on leaving.
