When downtrodden checkout assistant Bonnie Green receives a letter from a mysterious uncle, she can hardly believe her eyes.
Gifted a hundred-year lease on a famous cafe situated in the middle of a mythical theme park, Bonnie sets off with her best friend Debbie on an adventure to a hidden valley in the Lake District where they will find new friendship, love, and happiness, all set against the magic of Christmas … and more marshmallows than they can possibly eat….

With Christmas fast approaching it seems the ideal time to read a story set in Christmas Land! Mind you, this Christmas Land is a Christmas themed park in the Lake District that is open all year round, so maybe it would be better to think of this as a book to read whenever you are feel like a festive read!
Bonnie Green is fed up. She has a poor self opinion after her husband had multiple affairs and left her, yet her adult children sided with him, not her. He’s left her with their home and the mortgage to go with it but very little else. She works as a cashier in a supermarket and has little to look forward to until she unexpectedly receives a letter informing her that she’s inherited the one hundred year lease for Marshmallow Café in Christmas Land. After taking a sickie on the advice of her young friend, Debbie, the two set off to discover just what she’s inherited . . . .
This is a fun read in an idyllic – but very rundown – setting which is brought to life by the author’s brilliant descriptions of the place and the community there. It is a story of making a fresh start, taking a chance, working together to achieve the best you can for the good of everyone involved. It is about learning new skills, putting the dull past behind you and friendship. There are so many superb characters in this story, most of whom I’d love to meet! Bonnie not only reinvigorates herself, she helps to do that for the staff and leaseholders involved in Christmas Land . . . . but will it be enough to save it and prevent it being bulldozed away?
This is a fabulous festive read which I have no hesitation in highly recommending – whatever the time of year! Thank you to the author for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read, thoroughly enjoyed and honestly reviewed.
