Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!
There’s a newcomer to the village of Heartcross and she’s never been more in need of a friend. Ella is ready to start afresh ––and that could mean there’s love on the horizon in the form of the gorgeous Roman, the local water taxi driver. Every day Roman is there to ferry Ella to the restaurant on the other side of the lake and every night he makes sure she gets home safe. But Roman has secrets of his own…
Can the Love Heart Lane community offer Ella a chance of a new life? Or will the ghosts of her past catch up with her?
This is a fantastic, emotive read and a great addition to this series set in the delightful village of Heartcross – I’d love to live there! There’s a brilliant sense of coming to a very welcoming home when you read these stories, there’s a real sense of supportive community, a place where people look out for each other and really do care. I absolutely adored reading this story!
Ella has had a traumatic, heartbreaking time and jumps at the chance to make a fresh start away from everything that has happened to her in Chester. She goes to live with her best friend from Uni, Callie, who has also found her work as a waitress in the recently refurbished and reopened restaurant on the other side of the lake. As Ella is welcomed into the village, she soon makes new friends and meets someone who she is instantly attracted to – but understandably wary of after her experiences. Will this lovely community help heal her heartbreak and give her a brilliant fresh start or will the past return to haunt her? Although Ella is the newcomer to the village, it is her neighbour Delores who is the real star of the book in every sense of the term….. but you need to read it for yourself to see if you agree with me!
What a great read this is, a real feel-good read. I thoroughly enjoyed my return visit to catch up with the locals and events in this fabulous community. There’s a great mix of mystery, romance, problem solving, second chance romance, drama and new beginnings for different people in Heartcross, making this a fun story to escape into and the author has a way of drawing readers in so they also feel involved in the story. I can’t recommend this read – and this series – highly enough and I really look forward to visiting there again in future stories. Just as an aside, after reading the author’s letter to readers, I really hope she has a happier future ahead of her and was pleasantly surprised as I remember staying in the Floatel which was the inspiration for this story.
Thanks to One More Chapter, Harper Collins and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I voluntarily read and have honestly reviewed.
