From shopkeeper… To Duke’s wife
When Beatrix, Duchess of Howden, writes to her estranged husband offering a divorce, she’s stunned when he arrives on her doorstep with a different proposition: a six-week marriage trial! Quinton Roxbury seems cold and inscrutable, but Beatrix gradually realises his rough exterior hides a heavy burden. As their connection deepens, dare she trust him with her own scandalous past and risk the marriage she never knew she wanted?
This is a very different regency romance in which Beatrix, Duchess of Howden, ran away from her own wedding to make a new life for herself in Bath. When she wrote to Quinton Roxbury offering him the opportunity to annul the wedding or divorce her she never expected him to arrive to talk to her! They come to an arrangement, agreeing to spend six weeks together, with her acting as his Duchess, at the end of which she can decide whether she wants to stay with him or return to Bath and be divorced.
This is a lovely story where the main characters get to know each other, where feelings grow and aren’t immediately acted on and where facing up to the past helps so many of them look to a happier future, It is an engaging read with some fantastic characters, including Quin’s youngest sister who is key to so much. She may not be seen or heard but she’s a great listener! Get ready for family dramas, scandalous revelations, new friendships and a heartwarming romance in this delightful read! There are people to love, others who change and grow on you and one family that just don’t deserve family! There’s one event that I really enjoyed reading about – get ready when she meets her Uncle in the park and you’ll see what I mean ☺ I will definitely look out for other books in this Regency Belles of Bath series and by this author in future and have no hesitation in highly recommending this to anyone who enjoys reading historical romances.
Thanks for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.
