Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!
Title: Her Dark Lies
Author: J.T. Ellison
A wedding on an idyllic sounding island off the coast of Italy sounds like a dream event but this one is definitely much more of a nightmare! The wealthy Compton family own the island and it is there that Jack Compton plans to wed his fiancée, artist Claire Hunter. However, this setting hides dark secrets, unnerving messages, disturbing events and threats. When a huge storm cuts the power and this atmospheric thriller takes readers on a roller coaster ride packed with terror, fear and danger.
I am definitely trying not to reveal anything in this review to spoil your enjoyment of this book, should you choose to read it. It is a story where most of the characters seem to have secrets. The sense of danger permeates this story, giving it a very edgy, dark, menacing feel that only escalates as the story progresses. It is told from several points of view but readers aren’t always aware of just whose viewpoint your are reading, adding to the mystique and sense of peril. This is a deadly wedding, one in which the body count mounts, the sense of dread and danger grows and you’re not certain just who will survive to the end. If you enjoy dark thrillers, this is one you’ll probably find enthralling!
Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.
Jutting from sparkling turquoise waters off the Italian coast, Isle Isola is an idyllic setting for a wedding. In the majestic cliff-top villa owned by the wealthy Compton family, up-and-coming artist Claire Hunter will marry handsome, charming Jack Compton, surrounded by close family, intimate friends…and a host of dark secrets.
From the moment Claire sets foot on the island, something seems amiss. Skeletal remains have just been found. There are other, newer disturbances, too. Menacing texts. A ruined wedding dress. And one troubling shadow hanging over Claire’s otherwise blissful relationship—the strange mystery surrounding Jack’s first wife.
Then a raging storm descends, the power goes out—and the real terror begins…
