What a fantastic, funny read this turned out to be – it was so hilarious that I ended up sharing extracts from it with my husband, just to explain why I was laughing so much . . . and it made him laugh, too! So, if you’re looking for something to put a smile on your face, grab yourself a copy of this delightful romcom and get reading that instead of my review!
I’d never heard of a professional bridesmaid before – it turns out she’s secretly employed to help the bride to ensure their wedding day goes smoothly – and that’s the job of the star of this romcom, Sophie Breeze. The story is interspersed with absolutely hilarious anecdotes, emails and exchanges relating to her role, so make sure you’re not somewhere you should be laughing out loud when you read the book! This time it isn’t the bride who employs Sophie, but the bride’s mother – and the bride is adamant that she doesn’t want or need Sophie’s help. The bride is Lady Cordelia who appears obnoxious, opinionated and determined to either make Sophie quit or give her the sack. Some of her antics in pursuit of these goals are bizarre but Sophie just keeps on trying, with priceless results. The worst thing for Sophie is not being able to share just who she’s working for with her best friend.
Get ready for visits to a stately home, meeting the bride-to-be’s gorgeous older brother and her erstwhile friend who is now her arch nemesis, who seems determined to ruin or outdo Cordelia’s wedding plans. With rivalry, betrayal, kindness, romance, royalty and swans, this is a fantastic read that I really can’t recommend highly enough. Even days after reading it, memories of scenarios from it are still putting a huge grin on my face.
Thank you to Hodder and Stoughton and NetGalley for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.
Sophie Breeze is a brilliant bridesmaid. So brilliant, in fact, that she’s made it her full-time job.
As a professional bridesmaid, Sophie is secretly hired by brides to be their right-hand woman, ensuring their big day goes off without a hitch. From wrangling rowdy hen dos to navigating last minute portaloo cancellations, there’s no problem she can’t solve.
So when she’s employed by an actual Marchioness to help plan the society wedding of the year, it should be a chance for Sophie to prove just how talented she is.
Of course, it’s not ideal that the bride, Cordelia, is rude, difficult and determined to make Sophie’s life a nightmare. It’s also a bit inconvenient when Sophie finds herself drawn to Cordelia’s posh older brother, who is absolutely off limits. And when a rival society wedding is announced, things get even more complicated . . .
Can Sophie pull off the biggest challenge of her career, follow her heart and maintain her reputation – all while keeping her true identity hidden?
