This is a contemporary romance . . . it is also a second chance romance because the couple went to high school together but were unaware that each had a crush on the other and never actually dated. They are both very supportive of their families and looking to change their current situation but in different ways. April wants to be more like her sisters instead of always being the sensible one. Cole wants to pay off his parents’ medical bills and is working all the hours he can to do so . . . He’s considering entering high stakes poker games . . . April thinks that’s for losers. After an unforgettable one night stand can the two sort out their issues and find time for romance? Will love find a way?
Although the book is the fourth in this series, it is written in a manner that makes it work as a standalone. It is a relaxing read and I particularly enjoyed April’s list of things to do to make her more like her sisters and less sensible. Both April and Cole have their particular fears and foibles, there are a few times their actions appear contrary to their inherent nature but otherwise this is a fun read and good addition to the series.
Thank you to Tule Publishing for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.
April Grayson is the responsible one in her family of wild, barrel racing rodeo stars. After years of keeping her sisters out of trouble, she’s finally earned some time to let loose. She indulges in a one-night stand with the cowboy she crushed on in high school. It’s as hot as it is memorable, but the next day she finds out Cole works for her new accounting client. He’s dead set against having one of the “Wild Grayson Sisters” working on Three Sisters Ranch.
Last Stand rodeo youth director Cole Lockwood loves horses, kids, and cowgirls—not necessarily in that order. Even though his night with April leaves him wanting more, his parents’ medical bills have him working 24/7. He’s tempted to go back to his professional gambling ways and enter a high stakes poker game, but April warns that’s a loser’s bet.
Cole and April strike a deal: she’ll teach him about managing his family’s finances if he helps her overcome her fear of horses and learn how to be a little more reckless. Can this cowboy make a cowgirl out of her?
