Somewhere to review books I'm reading without giving away any spoilers!

Fascinating #Interview with Laura Briggs, author of the Return to Cornwall series of six books!

Please welcome Laura Briggs here today
Read on to see what she has to say!
She has kindly answered my questions here
About her inspiration, books and idea.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading her books in the past
And know that this set won't be the last
I really can't wait to read even more
If you try them I'm sure you'll them also adore!

Where did you get the inspiration for the book/series?

It was the BBC hit Poldark that first made me think about setting a series in Cornwall. I penned a novella about an American event planner named Julianne who gets her big break organizing a wedding at a Cornish manor house. From there, it kind of snowballed and the series ended up having twelve novellas total. Then, a little while later, I did a reboot, which is how the novels in my box set Return to Cornwall (Books 1-6) came about. They find Julianne a few years older and wiser, and a lot busier as a wife, mum, and business owner in the sleepy village she’s come to think of as home.

What is your writing process?

It involves a laptop, and usually a cat or two as a writing mascot, lol. Really, though it just depends on the project and whether I go with a music playlist for background, or maybe just a marathon of classic Midsomer Murders episodes.

Do you write using pen and paper or on a computer?

The books are done mostly on the computer. There are often notes or outlines on paper, though.

Who is your favourite character out of your stories and why?

Oooh, that’s a tough question! I do have a soft spot for the side characters, though, who tend to be very quirky and colorful, like the staff at the hotel Penmarrow in A Little Hotel in Cornwall and its sequels, or the fellow shop owners in Julianne’s little village.

If you were a character in your story, which would you like to be?

Another tough question! I don’t think I would be a main character, they have too much drama to contend with, lol. I think I would settle for being a guest at the Penmarrow hotel, because it’s a beautiful historic place with luxury suites and exciting events like ice carving contests and literary-themed balls and such.

How and why did you choose the names for your main characters?

Julianne’s name was a little bit inspired by Juliet in Shakespeare’s play, even though they have nothing in common, lol. As for Matt, his character was named after Matthew Crawford in Downton Abbey, even though his physical characteristics were based on those of the main character in BBC’s show Poldark

Thank you so much for answering my questions, Laura – I really enjoyed reading both your answers and your books!
