This book tells the true story of Estonia and how its people succeeded in winning its freedom. It gives facts about its location and its history, particularly the effects of World War 2 on life in the country then and afterwards under Soviet rule. The importance of their music festival and the songs selected for inclusion in the programme is cited and details about the human chain of over a million people from Tallinn in Estonia to Vilnius in Lithuania are also shared. It also tells how Estonia won its freedom without shedding a single drop of blood. There is also a Glossary to explain some of the terms used in the book.
This is a brilliantly illustrated book which explains key historical events for Estonia in an easy to understand manner that children will find it easy to relate to – another great book from this team Ten percent of every sale from this book will go to the Järvemetsa Scout Camp in Lakewood, New Jersey which is for boys and girls promoting the cultural heritage and interests of Estonians.
Thanks to the author, publishers and NetGalley, too, for letting me read this book in exchange for an honest review. I am uncertain when this book will actually be available for purchase but it is listed on a variety of online bookseller sites.
