My Review:

This is a lovely contemporary romance, this time featuring Grant McAllister, a former Marine who was seriously injured whilst on the front line. It has taken him considerable time to recuperate but now his brother needs his help on the family ranch. Deciding it is time to stay home now, he plans to restore and extend the old hunting cabin for himself and seeks help from Abby Rogers, a relative newcomer to Whiskey River who specialises in repurposing products. She’s beautiful and the attraction is there between them from the start but she’s also the widow of a Marine and has a delightful young daughter. She’s determined to remain independent and doesn’t want to have any relationship with Grant. However, designing the interior of his new home, sourcing the items for it, is a job she can’t resist and just maybe that will give their mutual attraction time to grow . . . .

There are problems on the ranch, difficulties with Abby’s mother, threats and offers that are skilfully pieced together to make this an engaging read and a great addition to this series. The relationship between the three brothers is great, they are always there for each other and it was lovely to briefly catch up on Duncan and Harrison. Abby’s daughter is a real star in this story, sweet and adorable! I’m now eagerly anticipating reading the third book in this series – The Ranger, which is due to be published in July 2021.

Thank you to Tule Publishing for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed.

Synopsis:

He’s not looking for anything serious…

When his older brother asks him to move back to Whiskey River to help run the family ranch, former Marine Grant McAllister feels obligated to agree. After spending two years recovering from battle injuries, coming home finally feels right. Relishing being back on the land, Grant decides to refurbish the family’s old hunting cabin as his new home. When the artisan designer he hires turns out to be a beautiful, intriguing woman, he hopes to mix business with a little pleasure.

She needs to remain uninvolved…

After the death of her Marine husband, a pregnant Abby Rogers moved to Whiskey River to be closer to her husband’s family and escape her controlling mother. Reinventing herself as a designer, she now focuses on her business and mothering her young daughter. She has no time for relationships—no matter how tempting she finds her handsome new client. But when her wealthy mother threatens to sue for custody of her daughter, Grant’s shocking offer forces her to listen to her heart.
