Hunter of Her Heart by Kaylie Newell

Title: Hunter of Her Heart, a Wolfe Creek novelHunter of her Heart

Author: Kaylie Newell

Publisher: Entangled Covet

Published: June 23rd, 2015

Rating: 3.5/5

Zane Wolfe is worried about how he seems to be changing, feeling and acting. He has had some flu like symptoms, woken up naked in the forest unaware of how he got there, had problems controlling his temper . . . he’s starting to worry that the local folklore might be right – could he be cursed to be a werewolf?

His girlfriend, Candi Brooks, has always been attracted to him and the chemistry between them is volatile, they’ve been together since High School and she’s never had eyes for anyone else. However, she’s getting fed up of his lack of commitment to their relationship, anger and seemingly insatiable appetite for sex but not really loving. As so many folks are saying, he really does need to grow up! Something else, however, is going on. She’s being stalked. Can Zane protect her – or is he the one she needs protecting from?

This is an intriguing paranormal romance with echoes of when Jacob discovered he was a werewolf in the Twilight saga by Stephanie Meyer, but only echoes. It is a totally different story with no vampires to be seen! The characters throughout the book are well developed. The dangers experienced at different times in the story are well portrayed, real page turners. Personally, I didn’t relate well to Zane as he seems so full of angst and turmoil he’s also at times very selfish, forgetting to be a caring and loving partner to Candi. I did like her and how she sticks up for herself with him. It is the second book in the series but I haven’t read the first and didn’t feel that I’d missed out by not doing so, this works as a standalone. If you enjoy paranormal romances this is another to add to your to be read pile!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for letting me read an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
