My Review

Nicola May writes great stories and this is no exception. The community of Cockleberry Bay is brought vividly to life in this action packed story which stars Rosa and her pet dachshund, Hot. Even Hot finds romance in this delightful story!

Rosa is married to Josh but whilst she stays in Cockleberry Bay to run her pet and gift corner store, Josh spends most of the week working in London. Rosa had an unstable upbringing and, as a consequence, has many issues which includes not believing in herself or how others love her. When she spots Josh talking to the lady who runs the local cafe, she puts two and two together to make five, jumps to conclusions and this has dire consequences on her and her relationship with Josh.

There’s plenty of drama in this story of finding yourself and trusting in love, including a fire,  an ill baby, a search for an unknown father, a daring rescue, someone trying to gain Rosa’s love for himself and so much more. It is a story of love in a supportive community, of growing to know yourself and to trust others as well as romance, facing and acknowledging your fears and learning to overcome them. It shows the importance of communication and that it really is ok not to be ok. Some of it is heart-wrenching but overall it is a heartwarming story with brilliant characters who are brought to life by this fantastic author. I really hope there will be more books in this series in future.

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion after choosing to read it and thoroughly enjoying doing so!
