Title: Christmas at Sleigh Bell Farm
Author: Kaylie Newell
Publisher: Tule Publishing
Published: October 29th, 2019
This is a delightful festive read with family and dreams as well as courage and romance at the heart of it.
Rachel O’Rourke is taking a break from dating after being hurt yet again. She’s working as a bartender whilst striving to create a big enough following to make her living as a podcaster. Her latest idea is to hold a contest for the best first kiss story that led to a lasting relationship. When she sees a handsome stranger take one of the flyers publicising the competition she assumes the story will be his – but it isn’t. He enters his grandparents into the competition and they’re the clear winners.
As she gets to know them and ‘Lucky’ whilst interviewing them for the podcast, the attraction between the two builds. However, he has to decide if he’s brave enough to follow his own dreams of running an animal sanctuary or to be guided by his father and go back to train as a vet.
This is a heartwarming story of family, expectations, assumptions, dreams and love. It is set in the small town setting of Marietta, Montana and includes references to places and people from there who appear in numerous other stories and it is great to catch up on some of them again. If you’re looking for a relaxing, fun, contemporary romance with family and community at its heart, look no further. This is another great read by Kaylie Newell and I have no hesitation in highly recommending this and everything else I’ve read by this talented author.
i was gifted a copy of this book by the publishers and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
It’s going to take more than luck to make his Christmas dreams come true
Jim “Lucky” Elliott is the country boy next door – charismatic, handsome and charming. But when he has to drop out of vet school to try and rescue his grandparents’ Marietta-based sleigh ride business and family farm, Lucky faces his hardest struggle yet.
Podcaster Rachel O’Rourke is done with broken hearts, but she can still find joy in other people’s happily-ever-afters. When she holds a contest on her show for the best first kiss story, her bruised heart beats a little faster when she reads Lucky’s submission. He doesn’t have a story, but his grandparents do, and free advertising for the winner is just what he’s looking for.
As they start spending time on the farm, Rachel finds herself not only drawn to the sweet setting, but also to the man. But when a real estate developer sets his sights on the Elliott land, Lucky will have to decide if the money means security for his family, or if he’ll fight for Sleigh Bell with Rachel by his side.
