The Amish Teacher’s Dilemma by Patricia Davids

Title: The Amish Teacher’s Dilemma

Series: North Country Amish

Author: Patricia Davids

My Review:

This is a great example of the Love Inspired series, a heartwarming story filled with faith and hope with a profound trust that their way will be guided by God. Having said that, the religious element isn’t pushed, just an integral part of the lives of the Amish and fundamental to their thinking, making this a really delightful read.

Eva Coblentz’s parents had passed away whilst she was a teenager. She was raised by her older brother and his wife, spending much of her time caring for her grandparents until they also passed away. When she sees an ad for an Amish teacher for the newly constructed New Covenant Amish school, Eva sees this as a challenge and applies for the position,  even though it involves moving away from her siblings. She is given the job and moves into this supportive community and soon meets Willis Gingrich, the town’s blacksmith, who lives across from the school. He has recently brought his step-siblings to live with them after their parents died in an accident. There are three of them – Harley 13, Otto, 11, and sister Maddie, who is seven and has an imaginary friend who gets blamed for all sorts! Everything is new to them all and each has their own way of coping.

This is a story of facing the challenges life puts before you, overcoming obstacles, helping each other and finding true love. It is a delightful, family orientated romance with great characters, each having their own dilemmas and problems. When Eva’s oldest brother wants her to give up her new job and return home, there are more decisions to be made, secrets to be revealed, diagnoses to be made, help to be given and love to be found. I really enjoyed reading this story and hope there will be future stories in this series involving Eva’s brother and someone else who has recently moved into this community.

I have no hesitation in highly recommending this story to anyone who is looking for an engaging, heartwarming romance with community, family and love at the heart of it. I requested and was gifted a copy of this book via NetGalley and this is my honest review after choosing to read it.
